    Random power off

    Hi,

So I recently started using an Asus x550vx laptop, 2017 model. It is equipped with 8GB of ramI added 4 more, an Intel Core i7-6700HQ and Nvidia GTX 950M dedicated graphics. The thing is, on Windows, it randomly shuts down, but it doesn't display the "shutting down" screen. It just goes blank. I updated all the drivers on it using Intel Driver Assistant and NVIDIA Gerforce Experience, did a BIOS upgrade which was the scariest experience in my life, disabled auto-sleep and tweaked some other power settings in Control Panel. I also tried Linux Pop Os on it, which worked fine, without any issues, but I need Windows as well for some programs. I don't think the issue is hardware-related, as it works perfectly fine in Linux. I mostly use the dedicated graphics for better performance. The battery works perfectly fine, I changed it at some point as the other one ran out of juice too quicly.

    Any help is appreciated.

    :)

  2. random restarts

    Hi,

If a Windows computer random restarts, the device usually have some damaged system components. For us to provide an accurate solution, we would need you to answer the following questions:

    • Which build, version and edition of Windows is installed on your computer?
    • What changes have you made to the device before this issue occurred?
    • What troubleshooting steps was already performed to your laptop?

In the meantime, it will be best to make sure that the latest update of Windows is installed on your device. If the same issue happens after installing Windows Update, we suggest running the power troubleshooter. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Open the Control Panel.
    • Using the search bar at the upper-right corner, type troubleshooting.
    • From the search results, click on Troubleshooting and then select System and Security.
    • Click on Power and then follow the prompts to successfully run the tool.

We are looking forward to your response.
