  1. Random System Restarts since MOBO and CPU upgrade, no BSOD

I've recently upgraded my PC with a new MOBO and CPU. Prior to this upgrade I would occasionally run into a situation where the PC would not come out of sleep. It would get into a loop where it would attempt to wake from sleep, there would be a few clicks, and then it would stop and try again. That was a 6700k, I think, and it had a cooler fail on it at one point in the past two years so I just assumed it was time for an upgrade. I upgraded to a 11700k, ASUS Prime Z590-A and swapped my existing hardware over: 4x8gb Corsair Dominator 2666, Samsung 950 Pro m.2 drive, Quadro M2000, h80i cooler, Enermax Revolution XT 630W PSU. Windows appeared to handle the MOBO and CPU upgrade well as it upgraded drivers, etc and everything seemed to work as expected. I figured I'd try the ASUS AI tweaker overclocking utility and see what sort of extra performance that would squeeze out of the 11700k. My PC ran without issue for a couple days until all of a sudden it shutoff and restarted on its own. When that happened I reset the bios settings to default and discontinued using the AI tweaker, as I've read mixed reviews on it. A day or two later, same reset problem. This has been going on for a little over a month know. It'll reset watching YouTube, entering data into Excel, entering data into SaaS, using SolidWorks, and NEVER while running a aida64 or Intel stress test. Sometimes it'll go a week without a restart and sometimes its every day. Unfortunately I lost my event viewer log when I upgraded Windows Yesterday. I'm still using the AI tweaker since that didn't make a difference with restarts. I always get critical error Kernel-Power 41 (63) when it restarts. It also gets a little strange with timestamps in event viewer around the critical event with event 6008 always happening a few seconds after error 41, and interestingly enough the time that event 6008 shows is several minutes before the restart. What I've done: Plugged PSU directly to wall instead of UPS memtest86 from Bios new PSU, Corsair RM850X (restarted both with and without UPS) Windows in place upgrade to Windows Pro 21H1 (19043.1083) CPU temperatures are good HD Tune error scan passed on m.2 I haven't done one on the HDD and can do that if it seems needed. Any advice is hugely appreciated. I'm not quite sure where to go from here short of a hd format and reinstall of Windows. Thanks

    :)

    Random restarts

when you start the computer up press F8 repeatedly until you get a list of how to start windows, choose do not automatically restart on system failure. if your getting bsod's list what your getting here so we can further help you. IF the system is not getting bsod's and still restarting as you say then i would look into getting a line conditioner for your computer as you might be having power issues.

  3. Changing my MOBO and CPU a

I'm doing PC upgrades and changes entirely for my new mini-itx build.

I'm not sure about how the process would work, but what are the appropriate steps I need to undertake before making my changes?

    • My personal data and files are backed up to my Onedrive, and have nothing to lose in terms of data.
    • I have an additional copy of Windows 10 (but would prefer not to use it in-case I do another PC build).
    • My MOBO and CPU upgrades are polar opposites of my current hardware:
      • OLD HARDWARE
        • Intel i5 6500
        • AsRock Killer MOBO
      • New Hardware
        • AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
        • Asus Strix X-470
This is my first time doing a particular change so guiding steps would be greatly appreciated! Things like how to wipe my hard-drive and reinstall Windows, etc.

You will have to buy windows license if you change the motherboard, unless you made the computer originally in the first place, or bought a license key.
