Windows 10: Ransom-ware Virus infection. Files converted to KOLZ format.

Hi friends


I am not a technical person as such but I do understand some technical terms. I have been attacked by a ransom-ware and it converted all my files to a KOLZ format, has anybody been through the same and how did you go around to reclaim the files?

Are there any obvious file extensions appended to or with your encrypted data files?

Tech Support Scamming using
browser pop-up or web pages indicating "your computer is infected with ransomware",

“All Your Files Are Encrypted" and other
fake messages has become an increasing common scam tactic. Actual ransomware infections typically append an obvious extension to the end of encrypted filenames and demand a ransom payment by leaving ransom notes in every directory/affected folder where
data has been encrypted.

If there are no obvious extensions appended to your file names, no ransom notes and you data is not actually encrypted, then you most likely are dealing with a
fake browser ransomware scam.

 

New Trojan that Demands a Ransom

There is a new virus out there discovered by virus hunters known as "Cryzip". The Trojan encrypts your files and then demands a $300 ransom for the decryption password to get your files back. After encrypting the files, the virus leaves a nice step-by-step guide of how to go about paying the ransom off. It's supposedly spread through email Spam, and has successfully evaded anti-virus scanners.
