taskhostw.exe issues result in high CPU usage

Hello, I also have this problem and I guess I solved it after playing around and testing some stuff. This solution my not apply to everyone but worth a try.

My taskhostw.exe can go up to 30% with the CPU usage.

I decided to do a clean boot as suggested above and noticed the problem
did happen after signing in for a few moments but then it would calm down.

After that taskhostw.exe didn't appear to have high CPU even once. I realised there must have been something that made it go up which is not active right now since it's a clean boot.

I decided to go back to a normal boot and close/launch a few applications. After messing around a bit I noticed Skype was causing this. Every time Skype was launching, taskhostw.exe would sky rocket with the CPU usage, and as long as Skype was on it would
keep up the CPU usage. After turning off Skype I did not see taskhostw.exe using my CPU even once.

I suggest to anyone that has this problem to test your 3rd party programs just by closing/launching them and see if you get high CPU usage.

High CPU usage

Hi Tusar,

The Task manager shows high CPU usage for core Windows process which can be used by other application. In order find out which applications might be using more resources through these services, I would suggest you to open 'Resource monitor' and check. In
task manager, go to the 'Performance' tab and click on the option 'Open Resource monitor' option at the bottom. Click on the CPU tab and then select the processes which showed high CPU usage in task manager. No expand the 'Services', associated handles section
and post us a screenshot so that we can check the details and help you accordingly.

In the meantime, I would also suggest you to boot the PC in safe mode and check if the issue persists. Refer to this article:
