  1. RDP hanging and crashing on client machine

Hey guys, I hope you are well!

I am running into a hang and crash with RDP in between Windows 10 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

I have an application running as a remote app on the Windows Server 2008 R2 and in certain cases it seems to be hanging when viewing from Windows 10. The weird part is that RDP hangs only in a specific, empty, area of the app when hovering the mouse over it.

When opening the RDP connection again, the application is in the exact same place where it was before.

What makes the problem even harder to investigate is that I cannot replicate the issue locally within my VM, but it is replicable on the production server which is a quite a few hundred miles away (no load balancer or anything alike along the network, we do however have a DNS, but the hang occurs even when using the IP address in the .rdp file).

I have attempted a sfc /scannow but it comes back all clean.

The issue cannot be replicated if using an older version of the RDP on the client such as the one in Windows 7.

The issue cannot be replicate if using a newer version of the RDP on the server such as the one in Windows Server 2016.

A copy of the crash log is attached below, occured in mstsc.exe:

So far it does seem to me either an incompatibility in between the newer and older version of RDP, but if any one of you ever ran into this problem, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also, don't hesitate to let me know if there are any other details I can provide to help.

    :)

RDP hanging and crashing on client machine

    RDP syncing?

I connect to one terminal server running Windows Server 2012 R2 from two Windows 10 machines. (I connect from Macs, too, but they don't share this issue.) I connect to the server with Microsoft's RDP client that is native to Windows 10. Both Windows 10 machines
have local authentication; neither one syncs with a Microsoft account for login purposes (although both have OD, ODFB, and an O365-based installation of Office). Both machines log in to the same account on the server; there is never a time when both Win10
machines are logged in to the server at the same time.

The terminal server is running on AWS. In order to get to the server, I have to either go through a Bastion host--in which case the terminal server has one IP address--and then log in through RDP; or log in directly via RDP, in which case the terminal server
    has a different IP address.

If I have logged in with one IP address in RDP from one of the machines, that address will be the default address in the RDP client on the
other machine, even if my last login on that machine was to the other IP. Same in reverse; if I log in with one IP address in the RDP client, that's the address that first appears in the RDP client of the other machine, even if it hadn't been used
    on that machine.

That means that somehow, somewhere, something is syncing between these two RDP clients. What is it?
