    I am perplexed.


    We have a new Win 2016 standard server (4 day old) using RDP as an administrator to configure and monitor etc.


    RDP from any Microsoft OS, tested from Win server 2008R2, Win 7 pro, latest WIN10 pro connects, drops out, retries, connects ... and so it loops. The graphics look pretty bad for the few seconds its up. This started just after installing the DNS role on the server


    In an attempt to improve matters, I removed DNS, no change, added DNS back. No difference. I then installed Terminal Services. This improved connection marginally but still useless, drops out, slow and unresponsive.


    But what is odd is that I can use an Apple iPad and an iMac and they behave perfectly - before and after the DNS role install. Using the significant other's toys is frowned upon and is causing marital friction.


    Any ideas where to look please?

    Cannot RDP in to Windows Server 2016

    Go to windows server 2016 and log in directly.

    Go to server manager.

    Go to Local Server

    Enable RDP, this is not turned on by default on windows server 2016 anymore because it is always best to use winrm or powershell to manage a server remotely.

    RDP is a dangerous port to keep open on a server.

    RDP from Windows 10 to Server 2016

    Hi,

    Anyone experiencing issues with RDP from Windows 10 to Server 2016?

    I'm getting "An internal error has occurred". From other versions(7, 2012) to 2016 it works fine. Couldn't find any info about this specific issue anywhere.

    Hi Ian,

    The issue is not with the TMS software as it works ok if you are directly connected to the computer, it also works fine if I RDP from a Windows 10 client. It's broken if I RDP from an Andriod or IOS client.

    As a test I loaded the same software on to Windows 7 Pro PC, and it works fine on their with all clients.

    So- it seems to narrow down to a Windows 10 Pro Terminal Server issue- its not rendering the screen correctly on Android and IOS clients.
