    Reactivate Digital License for Windows 10 Pro


    Back in 2017 I purchased a Windows 10 Pro upgrade from the Microsoft Store. Earlier this month the computer it was purchased for had a catastrophic motherboard failure. I've replaced the motherboard and the components that were problematic, reinstalled Windows, but no longer can reactivate Windows 10 Pro. I'm stuck with Windows 10 Home.


    From what I'm seeing, I was supposed to deactivate Windows First before restoring the purchase, but unfortunately, that's not an option as the previous hardware would not boot up. If I check the store, there isn't a digital license to reassign to my computer. How do I restore my Windows 10 Pro digital Upgrade?

    How to reactivate windows 10 with digital license after pc change

    Please help if somebody encountered the same problem for reactivating windows 10 Pro with digital license after pc change,it is originally upgraded from windows 7 Pro...Thanks in advance who will reply and give best suggestion!

    Hi ,

    I upgraded my windows 10 version from Home Basic to Pro in September last year.

    My laptop had to be reformatted and I had to install windows 10 again. Since original digital license was for 10 Home Basic - that is what I had to install and activate. All that was done.

    Now I want to reactivate Windows 10 Pro. I have associated the account from which this was purchased to local account so that I login into Windows 10 using that Microsoft account. I can see the purchase details when I look at Windows Store purchase history.

    However, I did not find any option / link / hint where I can do the upgrade. Since it was purchased ffrom the Store, the license was digital.

    How do I now reactivate this ?
