  1. Reactivate Windows 10 after hardware change without going into Windows itself

    Hi,

    I want to ask.

Is there a way to reactive Windows 10 after a significant hardware change such as replacing with a new motherboard and cpu only without going into Windows itself?

I am asking this because my current motherboard is fried so it pretty much is impossible to go into windows itself to reactive it since I can't even boot into windows.

I can't seem to find answers on the Microsoft site if there is other options to do it besides inside Windows itself.

I read up that this link: https://account.microsoft.com/devices/ lets me see my Windows 10 tied to my current hardware. I went into it and login and indeed I do see my old hardware set up. However I do not see a Digital License of some sort to let me map to new hardware.

Just wondering do i click the option to remove PC then I can install the new motherboard and cpu and my current hard drive which has Windows 10 will work just fine?

Another question is, if that does not work and require a fresh installation of windows. I don't have a problem reinstalling it. Just that my current hard drive that has Windows 10 is an upgrade from Windows 7. So do I need to reinstall windows 7 again and then upgrade to windows 10? Is that possible since I already used the Windows 7 key to upgrade to 10.

    Thanks!

    :)

windows 10 reactivation after hardware change

I just changed motherboards, and When I follow the the steps listed in the "reactivate windows 10 after hardware change" support page, it gives me the message "unable to activate windows" message after I sign in and identify my device,
with no error code, just a subheader that says "can't activate windows 10 on this device, try again later."
