    3. Click Change to the right of Owner.
    4. Enter Users into the box, then click OK.
    5. Enable the checkbox Replace owner on sub containers and objects, then click Apply.

    7. Completely close out of the Advanced Security Settings dialog.
    8. Repeat step 1.

    10. Select Add.

Removable disk GPT Partition attributes Readonly setting

    Hello microsoft community !

The final thing I want to do is create a read-only partition on the removable disk.
This partition wants to be read-only on one PC and not on a read-only PC.
The method I have found is to use Readonly among GPT Partition attributes.

First, I created an NTFS partition in GPT format on my removable disk.

And we changed the GPT attributes attribute to Readonly using Diskpart.

    DISKPART> gpt attributes=0x1000000000000000

    Reference URL) GPT

Confirm that the setup was successful and reconnect the removable disk.

Partition on the removable disk was mounted on explorer, and when I copied the file to that volume, I could see that it was read-only.

I have confirmed that the operation of copying or formatting files is blocked in a read-only state which I aimed at several other Windows10, 8 PCs.

However, in Windows 7, it was connected to a regular removable disk, not a read-only state, and the file was written and formatted.

I can not find anything related to the behavior in Windwos7 anywhere in the technical documentation, so I am asking for help.

In Windows 7, I would like to see if there is another way or not.

    Thank you.

USB stick previously used as a boot stick for Killdisk not recognized

    Try method 2 under Windows 7 8 10 here:
Free to Remove Readonly Attribute in Windows

Method 2: Clear readonly status with Diskpart

In Windows 10, 8, 7 OS, you are also able to run Diskpart in Command Prompt to clear read-only attribute on any partition on your computer. You can follow the tutorial below:

Step 1. Open Command Line and type Diskpart
    Step 2. Type list disk
Step 3. Type select disk (disk number)
Step 4. Type attributes disk clear readonly

    diskpart
    list disk
    select disk x
    attributes disk clear readonly

Setting readonly on a friend's flash drive is also a fun and quite simple prank. (Only works on NTFS, not FAT)
