Windows 10: Real-time protection seems to cause issues with file transfer over LAN to shared drive.

Hi All,


I have a pendrive connected to my router USB port that I use to share files with another computer on my home LAN. Specifically, I record on computer A mp3 files dictation files that I copy to the shared drive and then access over the LAN from computer B.

Everything worked fine for years, until approximately 6 weeks ago. All of a sudden, when transferring an mp3 file from computer A to the shared drive, the transfer started getting interrupted and the mp3 file found on the shared drive was incomplete/corrupted. After trying different workarounds, I found out that the issue appears to be caused by Windows real-time protection: if I turn that off, the transfer is seamless and the mp3 file does not get corrupted. I tried to exclude the folder from the AV scan of Windows Defender or whatever that is called now but that did not solve the issue. Only switching Windows Real-time Protection off seems to fix the issue, which of course is not a good idea. Is this a known issue with Windows 10? Should I just consider switching to an AV software from some vendor?

I did all the step and delete the MsMpEng.exe but still it doesn't turn on Real Time Protection any suggestion please??

MB real time protection

Today about 30 minutes ago, I just started getting real time protection popups. It stating that my real time protection is off. I've tried and tried and it just wont turn on. I found a fix that suggested to run as an admin...and that didn't work. Also restarting my PC didn't work either. Any ideas at what might caused this and how to fix this. Very strange!
