  1. Really strange mouse acceleration issue follows me even through clean installs

So the problem I seem to be having is that when I left click somewhere, my mouse decides it wants to go back to where I just clicked, almost as if I set a center of gravity on the screen or something. For instance if i click on the top left of the screen then move to the bottom right and try to draw circles my cursor will feel like it's being pulled towards the top left. This will happen even if I rebind the left click button. This issue comes back no matter what I do, factory reset mouse (also happens on brand new mouse), bios reflash, clean install, I've tried disabling so many things to the point of bricking windows. I've tried the markc mouse fix, 6/11 no pointer precision and all the like. I've also tried 3 different mice.

I know for certain none of my hardware is causing it. I've even tried another motherboard just in case. At this point I'm kind of at a loss for what to do. Makes gaming pretty much impossible since not only do I have acceleration, it's variable acceleration. Barring a registry tweak or something i'm truly stumped here.

    How to disable Mouse Acceleration?

    Hi Alex,

Mouse acceleration can indeed hinder the ability to play games where you need precise aim because it causes your mouse to move not only based on movement, but also on speed. You can disable mouse acceleration by following the steps below:

    • Click Start.
    • On the search bar, type Control Panel and select Control Panel in the results.
    • If you are in Category view, click Hardware and Sound.
    • Under Devices and Printers, click Mouse to open the
      Mouse Properties window
    • Click the Pointer Options tab, and uncheck the box next to
      Enhance pointer precision.
    • Click Apply, then OK.

If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to post a reply.

  3. Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:
    • Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
    • When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
    • Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
    • When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
    • This time enter your product key
    • When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
    • Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it
Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

Wireless mouse "driver is unavailable" issues

    Hi,

The error Driver is unavailable means that there is no available driver installed for your mouse that’s why it is not working. We suggest that you check the mouse driver from the device manager. Follow the steps below:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Look for Mice and other pointing devices and click it to expand.
    • Check if there is a driver for the wireless mouse.

If there is none, we suggest that you visit the manufacturer’s website of the mouse and download then install the latest mouse driver compatible to Windows 10.

Get back to us if you need further assistance.
