Windows 10: Realtek Driver Sound issues

Hi All,


I have a Dell Desktop with a Realtek Sound card. I use it primarily for recording music through a Guitar processor output to the Line IN jack on the back plate. I had an issue with it when it was new and Dell sent me links to drivers for the sound card and the video card. I have done that and I can see the audio signal in the meters on the sound config screen, And I can record the audio but I just cannot hear it while I am recording. So, the recording software, both Audacity and Sonar, can record the sound through the processor, I cannot hear it in the speakers live. I tried clicking the "Listen" check box in the Line In properties box and then I CAN hear what I am playing bur with a slight delay which makes recording impossible. It was working fine up to sometime last week and I have tried every trick I know to get it to work properly so I can continue my recording career. Being locked in the house gives me lots of time to play and I would love to be able to multtrack. Any and all help will be gratefully accepted.

Sound Quality

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.

We need to investigate further so that we can identify the cause of the issue. We suggest running the Troubleshooter and see if it helps. Follow the steps below:

• Type and select Troubleshooting on the Search bar/Cortana.
• Click Hardware and Sound.
• Select Playing Audio under Sound.
• Follow the steps that will be provided.

If the steps does not work. We suggest downloading a fresh copy of the audio driver from Realtek and see if it helps.
