Recent Dropbox update floods Event Viewer with DbxSvc ID 320 entries

Be aware that the recent Dropbox update to Ver 29.4.20 causes the DbxSvc service to flood Event Viewer with tens of thousands of information entries (ID 320). You can stop the DbxSvc service to avoid this happening but I'm not sure what the consequences of doing this are.

Event Viewer message reads: Failed to connect to the driver: -2147024894, retrying in 1000 milliseconds

    :)

Windows 10 crashes intermittantly after 1607 update

After installing the 1607 anniversary update (using Windows 10 Pro), I'm finding that Windows crashes intermittently.

I'm getting the following errors in the Event Viewer logs:

    Source: EFS

    Event ID: 4401

    Task Category: None

Details: 7.488: EFS service failed to provision a user for EDP. Error code: 0x80070005.

Usually, the following error will appear a second before:

    Source: DbxSvc

    Event ID: 320

    Task Category: (3)

Details: Failed to connect to the driver: (-2147024894) The system cannot find the file specified.

I have tried sfc /scannow and the DISM fixes along with checking whether Hyper-V is installed (it's disabled). I have a minidump for the crash, which I'll share shortly.

    Kind regards,

    Kevin

    Dropbox and DbxSvc.exe

DbxSvc for Dropbox seems to create thousands of "information" events while running on Windows 10. The Event Viewer shows about 1500 in the last hour. 35,000 in the last 24 hours.

I used Admin Tools -- Services to change this file from Automatic to Manual to stop it from running. (See below)

Will this affect the utility of Dropbox on Win 10?

I assume that when I start the Dropbox app manually, it will start running DbxSvc if this app performs any synchronization function.

Recent Dropbox update floods Event Viewer with DbxSvc ID 320 entries

philc43, Thanks for the info. The Information message started on both my Win 10 systems at about 8am on July 2. The error is logged every second! I stopped the DbxSvc and the events stopped. In some other searches I just did, some claimed that the service is related to updating Dropbox. Maybe, maybe not.

I typically do not have DropBox running. I start it up when I want to use it, which is not all that often.
