Windows 10: Recent Win 10 Change of File Explorer

Win 10, File Explorer used to auto update when a new file was added to the folder, Now the file does not update until you change folder then return. Was this a recent change. in Win 10? Win XP had a command to update folder display, but I do not see such a command?I ended up wasting a lot of time last night tax day trying to create the correct files!!!!!!

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

or just open regedit and remove all the fileX from that key.

 

File Explorer and Recent Files


At work, I'll open files on a network path that is only accessible at work, e.g.

\\mywork.org\shares\file.xyz

These files will appear in my recent list when opening File Explorer (Win+E). The problem I have is at home where that network path is not accessible, and the File Explorer window will HANG for minutes trying to find the file. I can get around it by running CCleaner and cleaning recent files, but I was wondering if there was something else that could be done where I don't have to wipe out my recent list?
