Windows 10: Recommended wifi manager

I would like a recommendation for a wifi manager app that controls internet access per application based on my metered network settings.

I use my phone as a hotspot for my laptop. The laptop is set to recognize my phone as a metered connection. Many applications do not look to this setting for rules. Specifically google drives backup and sync. I find it quite annoying that a 14 mb PDF file gets rewritten my drive every time I add a comment. I'd rather not upload to Drive over a metered network. I can pause drive and re-enable it when I'm home on my wifi network but I'm forgetful.

The hope is that when I connect to my home network, all apps connects as normal but when I'm on my hotspot I have more control over what connects to the internet.

• Have you installed any drivers for the WiFi card?

Try updating the drivers and check if the issue persists.

I suggest you to follow the steps below to update the Wifi drivers.

• Press Windows + X key on the keyboard.
• Select the device manager.
• Right-click your Wireless/Wi-Fi devices.
• Click Update Driver Software and then follow the steps in the wizard that appears.
• Restart the machine and check if the issue persists.

WiFi Connection

We suggest that you try the steps provided below and see if it will work:

• Navigate to Device Manager in Control Panel.
• Locate the wireless adapter in the list.
• Highlight the device in the listing.
• Right click.
• Select Properties then Power Management.
• Uncheck "Allow computer to turn off this device."
• Click Ok.
• Reboot.

Step 1: Run the Network Adapter troubleshooter.

  Large icons.

  Click on troubleshooting and click on the
  view all option on the left panel.

  Run the Network Adapter troubleshooter.
  

Step 2: You may follow the steps and check if it helps in resolving the issue, as the device might be hidden.
