    So, I have an old Dell Inspiron N5110 and I had to detach the top half from the bottom half due to broken plastic and hinge problems. I currently still use the bottom half as a computer just fine - it's on a desk attached to a big external monitor. I had a weird idea: I want to build a small mount/stand for the display half of the laptop to prop it up, then connect it to the bottom half (via its original connection) from a few inches away, as if it was an external monitor.     Confusing statement! You want to change the display on your laptop that died?

    Is that correct?

    How do you know its the display that's bad?

    Just google "how to change display on a acer 5745"

    Should get you to step by step instructions. But first make sure its the display that's bad

    Hi,

    In regards to your concern, since the second screen can't detect the display settings of your other laptop, we suggest that you perform the steps below and see if it helps:

    • Go to Settings.
    • Click on System.
    • Under System, choose Display.
    • Under Multiple displays, click on Duplicate these displays and apply.
