Windows 10: recording to a dvd r+ problems

Hi,
I am trying to transfer old vhs tapes to dvd. I installed Roxio "easy vhs to dvd3 plus" on a w10 laptop which has a read-write dvd player built in. When I click on "rec" nothing happens. Also I do not see a "stop" button on the screen.

I did have to re-size my screen to accommodate the roxio software.

Any thoughts on what to do? I am wondering if the dvd write is working. How do I test it, Burning is new to me.

Create DVD of photos -- update

If you have an older DVD player, it's possible that it (a) won't read recordable DVDs at all or (2) will only read either DVD-R or DVD+R. I used to have a Toshiba player that wouldn't read DVD+R discs but would read DVD-R.

 

Why can't I record DVD + R DL on my Windows 10 ?

I use Win 10. I can record other DVD but not DVD + R DL.

update. Problem continues. found and installed an update, not the solution. Installed on my desktop w10 with the update and still no go. I can read and write (cd/dvd drives)from both computers. Sent an email to corel tech support. tomorrow I may try to install on my w7 box and see what happens. software instructions says w8.1 compliant and on line they say w10 compliant.If it doesn't go with w7 I have one xp machine I can try it on....

Any thoughts??

Usually the drive will give you some indication that it is writing, such as a flash LED, etc. If the drive is quiet and no LEDs are flashing, then most likely the burning process hasn't started.

 

yup, my thoughts. No indication of activity. they do show activity if I burn a cd.

Problem still not solved. Loaded on third computer (w7) and the same results. No Go.

Could I have a bad blank dvd??
