Windows 10: Recovering deleted Desktop files

So i wanted to clear my desktop, so i moved all my desktop files onto my terabyte drive in a folder. After that I deleted every file permanently, thinking that i saved my files into my terabyte. The next day, i realize that all the files were copied as shortcuts to my terabyte. I had no access to any of these files.


I have tried using Recuva to recover my desktop files, but nothing showed up.


Is there any hope for me?

Thanks for your reply. I used my m8s program and it worked like a dream, recovered all the files and also deleted ones from yrs back, was amazed how well it did. Next step is i will use that Partition Table Doctor to recover the deleted partition. Thanks for the link *Toast :toast:

windows 10 deleted my desktop files

Step 1 - I upgraded to Win 10 and lost all my files on Desktop.

Step 2 - Found the files in Network - USers- Desktop

copied all files again to desktop.

Step 3- Restarted my machine again and lost desktop files again.

Step 4 - As suggested did the following as listed below but dont find my files.

• Press “Windows + E”, open This PC/Computer
• Open Local Disc C, open Windows.old
• Click on Users, select your User name
• Go to desktop folder

Cant find my files. Why is Win 10 deleted files again and again from Desktop ?.
