Hi tenforums!

I've suddently been getting some crashes, although no hardware modifications were made or new softwares/drivers installed. They happen during games, or video playback.

Apparently the most recent crashes are caused by ntoskrnl.sys and wdf01000.sys for an DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error.

Here is the zip file generated by the log collector.

Thank you very much for your help!

:)

These crashes were related to memory corruption (probably caused by a driver).

Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem. Please run verifier first. You do not need to run memtest yet unless verifier does not find the cause, or you want to.

If you are over-clocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!! If you do not know what this means you probably are not

1-Driver verifier (for complete directions see our wiki here)

2-Memtest. (You can read more about running memtest here)

Recurrent BSOD crashes

The Prolific Serial port driver (c:\windows\system32\drivers\ser2pl64.sys) is causing the BSODs.
Code: BugCheck D1, {38, 2, 1, fffff8014c7453ec} *** WARNING: Unable to verify timestamp for ser2pl64.sys *** ERROR: Module load completed but symbols could not be loaded for ser2pl64.sys Probably caused by : ser2pl64.sys ( ser2pl64+78f1 ) Followup: MachineOwner ---------
And it is extremely old.
Code: Image name: ser2pl64.sys Timestamp: Wed Sep 24 12:33:23 2008 (48D9E63B)
What is the Prolific chip type that you are using? Asking, because ....
If yours is any of these two, you should have to disconnect the Prolific cable.

For any other chipset type: Products
.... update the driver.

5. Thank you for such a quick reply!

I am using the old PL2303HXA serial device, so I had to install this old driver, it had worked until now *Smile
I uninstalled it, unplugged the cable leading to the serial device, and I'll see if I get any more BSODs.
Thank you very much!
