  1. Red Screen Scam - We fell for it

So, my dad received the red screen scam and called the number. The next thing he knows, gentleman on the phone has access TO HIS COMPUTER. He was controlling the computer for 15 minutes or so, explaining he could fix the virus situation with three charges: $149 to clean up $350 to build a firewall or $450 for a super version .....

We shut down dad's computer and will run McAffee, but are worried that all the other devices on the same network, same IP etc - four computers, cell phones, ipads - are at risk. Are they? Is there a remedy? Thanks in advance.

    :)

  2. Red screen Scam???

I had a red screen with a number to call for Microsoft support. I did not call that number, but another number from the website. I got directed to technicians who cleared adware from the machine and charged me $200. for one year's protection. It was all
done on line and of course, I gave them details believing they were legit. The bill came from ZOOMsupport powered by Quatrro, Inc. or QResolve as it appears on my credit card statement.

Anybody know anything about this company or have I been scammed?

  3. Red screen Scam???

It's a common scam that you could have ended with the Task Manager. Now you must consider everything on your computer has been compromised. Passwords, PIN numbers, financial account information. A clean install of Windows is the best option and what I would
do myself. See the following and decide if you want to tempt fate not knowing what they may have installed on your computer.
