Registry entry to enable non-local shortcuts to be pinned to the start menu?

Is there a registry entry that will allow shortcuts that point to something that is not on the C:\ drive to be pinned to the start menu?

I am aware of the workarounds like changing the properties of a local shortcut once it's pinned. I'm doing this in large scale, so that isn't a practical solution.

Any ideas that could potentially be scalable are welcome.

    :)

How to pin shortcut to start menu.

Sergiy Shklyar - You are a genius. This is the solution for pinning a non-executable to the Start Menu. Many thanks.

  3. How to pin shortcut to start menu.

At first, you can create a shortcut in your Programs folder
(in a hidden folder C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs). The shortcut appears in
All apps list. Then you can pin it to Start menu / Taskbar as Mayank Gupta10 suggested.

The common way is to create a shortcut on the Desktop.
But the more elegant way is creating Custom toolbars.

Your answer related to pinning apps to the start menu.

The question was can you pin desktop shortcuts to the start menu, or to the apps list?
