    registry issues? not sure

ok so I have a brother who sent me this email and is looking for answers. ANY help would be appreciated!

I am using Windows 10. I went to registry key: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

I changed the HideIcons value from 0 to 1 and it got rid of everything on my desktop including my recycle bin. I tried to restore everything by changing the key value back to 0 but it won't reverse what I did. My recycle bin is still gone and even if I go to my desktop folder and put something in it, it still doesn't show up on my desktop. Also when I change the key value to 0 and close out of the registry, when I come back in the key value is a 1 again. How can I restore my desktop?

If anyone has the answer to this issue, I have to play middle man to help him, anything would be useful. Thanks...

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the description, I understand that you are facing some issues using Windows 10.

I would like to know some information.

    • What registry fix are you trying to run?

    • What is the exact issue that you are facing?

    • Have you taken a backup of all your data?
I would suggest you to take a backup of all your data before doing any changes in the registry keys. If you do any incorrect changes to the registry you won’t be able to boot the computer.
