Windows 10: Reinstall Windows 10 already activated with a digital right

On a laptop shipped natively with Windows 8, I’ve also installed in July 2016 Windows 10 in a .vhd file, which at the end of the procedure was automatically activated with a digital right not linked to an account.


I want to change disk to install only the latest version of Windows 10.


My question is: what should I do to transfer the activation information on the new Win10 installation?

If you previously had Windows 10 installed and activated on that PC
during the installation process skip the steps which ask for a product key and select the option 'I am Reinstalling Windows 10 on this PC', and activation will not be an issue, your PC will have a digital entitlement stored on the
Microsoft Servers

The 7 digit code is used to confirm your ID with your Microsoft account

Please follow these steps:

• Open the Settings App, go to Accounts
• You should see the "Verify" link just above your picture
• Check your Email to see if Microsoft have sent you a 7 digit code
• Enter the 7 digit code when asked

 

[Solved] Windows 10 keeps reinstalling KB3119142

I noticed quite some time ago that KB3119142 (Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package) kept reinstalling itself for some reason. At least once daily. Sometimes up to several times a day. I just ignored it. It didn't seem to be doing any harm. And I figured they'd eventually fix it. Well...days turned into weeks, weeks into months, with no end to the problem in sight. It dragged on unsolved for at least the last few months. Literally reinstalling itself hundreds of(at least a hundred, felt like more) times in that period of time.

So I finally googled it a couple days ago. And just got around to fixing it today. Which appears to have worked. And it couldn't have been easier to do. I feel so stupid to have let it intimidate me for so long.*Oops!
