  1. Reinstalling windows on my ssd

    Hello

I have a gaming pc with a Samsung ex900 1tb nvme ssd and I have recently run into a problem. I had installed windows on this ssd when I first got my pc but I have run into a slight issue recently.

whenever I power up my pc, at the place where you see your login profile picture, there is just a blank, blue screen with the time in the bottom left. When I press enter, instead of being met with a password prompt I just see a blank blue screen with the restart and other buttons on the bottom right.

I tried to restart my pc into Revover mode from there but my screen just freezes, however I can still move my cursor. As a result I was not able to enter recovery mode from there.

I have tried to make a bootable usb and fix things using that. I have tried startup repairs but I keep getting a text file that says SrtTrail.txt. I have also tried using the command prompt to find any installation of windows and it says there are 0.

I then tried to reinstall windows onto my ssd but it said there was a missing driver from a DVD, USB, or hard disk. I do not know how as I have never uninstalled any drivers from my ssd.

If anyone can give me help as to how this happened in the first place, what SrtTrail.txt is, how to find the ssd Driver, or any other fixes that can get be back into my system, that would be much appreciated

    Thanks

    :)

  2. Reinstalling windows 10 on SSD

Step 1: Backup your important files:

Step 2: create a new bootable copy of Windows 10. The Windows 10 USB you have is the original version of Windows 10 which quite outdated.

    Step 1: How
to download official Windows 10 ISO files

    Step 2:

Step 3: Shutdown the computer, remove the HDD then install the SSD

Step 4: Perform a clean install.

When you upgraded from a previous version of Windows or receive a new computer preinstalled with Windows 10, what happened is the hardware (your PC) will get a digital entitlement, where a unique signature of the computer will be stored on Microsoft
Activation Servers. The Windows 7 or Windows 8 genuine license you were previously running will be exchanged for a diagnostics key.

Anytime you need to reinstall Windows 10 on that machine, just proceed to reinstall Windows 10. It will automatically reactivate. You will prompted to enter a product key a couple times through the installation, click I don't have
a key and Do this later.

There is no need to know or get a new key, but if you have issues with Digital Licensing or the Activation Troubleshooter, you can utilize an existing Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 product key you already own to
reactivate if necessary. or use the reset function in Windows 10.

    Hi Ralph,

Regarding your concern about changing the hard drive, you can definitely reinstall Windows 10 and activate it after changing your HDD to SSD. We suggest that you

    back up your files
in your SSD. You can use the Windows 10 USB, you can also follow the steps provided by
    Andre Da Costa in this
    forum article
. This will give you steps on how to install Windows using media creation tool or directly using your web browser.

In line with your license concern, it should be activated after you reinstall Windows 10 on the same desktop even after you made the hardware change. You can follow the steps provided in this

    article
    to re-activate Windows 10.

Update us with the result so we can further assist you.

    Reinstalling windows on my ssd

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Reinstalling windows on my ssd :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
