    Reinstalling Windows updater

    Hi

Is there a way to reinstall Windows Updater in Windows 10?

I had some language packs installed and they stopped working so I removed them to reinstall them and I was having an issue doing that where they are constantly failing to install where the updater says THE FOLLOWING UPDATES FAILED TO INSTALL (Then the language pack I was install in the main window).

Upon researching this one site recommended trouble shooting the updater so I went into the CP and the trouble shooter and ran it on the updater and it responded that there were issues and if I wanted to apply the fix so I said yes apply the fix. It ran the fix and returned that everything that was basically broken or out of place was fixed and to try again what I had been trying to do. So I ran the language pack install again and same thing failed again.

So I went back and rescanned the updater and same thing same errors. This time I tried the same thing but when completed I was curious so I rescanned the updater immediately after applying the fix and same thing so it is obviously not properly fixing the updater.

So I was hoping a reinstall of the updater might resolve this issue but want to make sure if it is possible that I do it properly.

So how can I do this if it is possible so I can hopefully fix this issue!

    :)

  2. Win 10 won't update or reset computer

    Hi,

My HP Envy with Win10 won't update any drivers, or windows updates. "Update registry database corrupt" or some such thing. I ran the update troubleshooter, fixed a few things, but still nothing. Computer says it is installing updates, but on restart
it won't complete the update and then undoes changes. Card reader doesn't work, USB devices (e.g., external HD) don't work.

I tried just resetting the the computer, but that doesn't complete either.

  3. Windows Won't update drivers, won't install MS updates, and won't reset

    Hi,

Windows 10 (64 bit). Card reader won't work (and driver updates won't install); external HD won't work (and drivers won't install, either automatically or manually); Windows updates won't install (the install history shows a series of failed installs),
and when I try to reset the computer, even that won't work. It prepares to reset, then reboots, but I get an error message saying that the action could be completed and no changes were made.

I feel like I must either have a bad bug, or something is funky with the update system.

I do sometimes get a message saying that the Update Registry Database is corrupt. (Can't remember exact wording.)

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Reinstalling Windows updater

Hi, I understand Windows update is not working for you and you have run the Windows Update troubleshooter.

Please precede any steps with this:
    From an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
    chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.
Post back the result, which you can get after a restart as follows:
How do I see the results of a CHKDSK that ran on boot? - Ask Leo!

then from an admin command prompt run
    sfc /scannow
and do not proceed if not clear.

Once the above steps have passed, you might try:
    Script Reset Windows Update Agent

A lengthy technical approach is given here:

When I try the chkdsk option I get the below result right off

I chose no for now. Thoughts?

Have not tried the other as time for lunch now so will check back later.

    chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
    That's what I said.

If you don't restart, no chkdsk. No chkdsk, no check on file system. A bit self defeating, really...
