Windows 10: Related to Clean Install Windows 10 Home - account locked

My current PC is relatively new, purchased in June 2020, and I may have made a mistake at that time which has led to issues related to my account and updates. Regardless, it wasn't until recently that I discovered the real problem - the former 2 PC's were still in my Google account under a different email account and had never been removed. One of them was Windows 7 Professional, which has led to my inability to do anything with Programs that imported in the permissions that I had on the old computers no longer exist in Windows 10 Home. I removed them from the Google account when I figured that part out a few weeks ago, but I can't sign in to the Windows account due to getting the Account Locked message. Might have been my fault, might have requested a merge of the accounts before I figured out that I should have removed the PC's in my Google account first.


My question - I want to purge my PC and do a clean install without importing any former information. If I do that, will the Account be unlocked or will I need to wait out the next few weeks until the "Security" flag is removed?

Clean Install Workaround for Vista

You may remember this news story on techPowerUp! a couple of days ago relating to the lack of clean installs when using the Upgrade Editions of Vista, which required an old OS to be installed. However, Paul Thurrott has managed to find a workaround for this issue, which ironically lets users do a clean install Vista without any previous version of Windows, albeit a little tedious. Here are the steps:

• Boot from the Windows Vista Upgrade DVD as normal
• When prompted for a product code, leave this blank
• Select the version of Vista you have purchased and let Vista install
• When you boot to your desktop for the first time, run the Vista setup from Windows
• This time enter your product key
• When asked whether you want to do an Upgrade of Custom install, select custom and choose a clean install
• Windows will now install for a second time and you should be able to activate it

Remember, these steps are only advised for use in order to achieve a clean install of Vista, it is only legal to use the upgrade editions if you have previously purchased the appropriate version of Windows.

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.
