    remote access failure

I have been using a remote access software, typically RemotePC, to access my father's computer to help him with bookwork. For the last month, I can't make a connection. Thinking it was a problem with remotepc, I downloaded Splashtop, but that does not work either. Both are enabled for always-on access, and both are marked allowed through Windows Defender firewall. What other settings could be blocking connection? Network discovery is turned on under private network, and turned off under public network. Would love some help.

    :)

    hijacked via remote network access

Sounds like you are the recipient of stolen goods. All of our work laptops have this feature where it locks the BIOS and hard disk remotely if stolen, misplaced, or after a certain number of failed access attempts to the data on the disk without the TPM key.

I would suggest returning it to wherever you bought or got it.
