  1. Remote Desktop - Allow Better Use of Multiple Monitors

I would like the ability to better use my multiple monitor system I have three. I know there is an option for "use all monitors" but that doesn't always fit how I want to use things.

Often, I want to use my laptop without Remote Desktop, and my two large monitors as my Remote Desktop, but there is no option to do that.

As I see it, there are two very basic enhancements that could be made:

    • Allow each window to minimize or close Remote Desktop
    • Allow Advanced setup in the Remote Desktop options dialog to set the windows to use Remote Desktop with

  2. 5 monitors on Remote Desktop

I have an issue with Microsoft Remote Desktop.

I am running 5 monitors on an 580 AMD 8GB GPU.

This was working fine locally and on the remote desktop - however now when I try to connect to the remote, it only allows one monitor on the remote desktop. If I unplug any one of the monitors, I can get 4 of the monitors to work over the remote.

Not sure if this is to do with an AMD update, remote, or my GPU. I don't think it is the GPU as this powers all five perfectly well, and I also switch on my motherboards DVI port and ran one monitor off that and 4 on the GPU, and still didn't work.

    Any suggestions welcome....

  3. Microsoft Remote Desktop APP (NOT Connection!) Multiple Monitors

Just switched to Windows Server 2016 Standard implementing RDS. We want remote users to be able to use Timezone redirection and enabled it in Group Policy. It does not work with the Remote Desktop Connection so after hours of trying we tried the Microsoft
Remote Desktop APP. It works in the App so we decided to switch EXCEPT we just found that the APP does not seem to support multiple monitors.

So more Microsoft frustration. We have to decide which is more important, timezone or multiple monitors.

Has anyone been able to get multiple monitors to work with the Microsoft Remote Desktop APP?

Remote Desktop - Allow Better Use of Multiple Monitors

    Remote desktop multiple monitors

    Hi AsadJamal1,

I am an independent advisor and a Microsoft user like you, and I would be happy to help you out with this.

When you open the Remote Desktop Connection client on the demo PC, under the Display tab, under Display configuration, do you have the setting enabled for "Use all my monitors for the remote session?"

Also, does the demo PC also have 3 monitors, or is it a different type of monitor set up?

I hope this has helped you. If this is not what you are looking for, please reply and let us know and we would be happy to look into providing some different suggestions!

    Regards,

    -Ashton
