Windows 10: Remove OneDrive from File Explorer and clean up Path structure

Hello,


I have to admit, that I kind of begrudgingly switched back from Linux Mint to Microsoft because for I need a program for two classes that does not work on Linux.

I backed up my Documents and Pictures on an external hard drive, wiped Linux and reinstalled Windows 10 Home.

I then transferred the files into the appropriate folders. Now I have the really confusing situation, that when I go to C:\Users\User\Pictures and C:\Users\User\OneDrive\Pictures it shows the same files.

This does not work for C:\Users\User\Documents and C:\Users\User\OneDrive\Documents. The OneDrive folder shows the Documents, the other one does not.

I have no interest in using OneDrive. I find the path structure utterly confusing. Plus there are a multitude of different folder names Essentially the same folders in two different languages, English and German which just makes my folder and file management even more confusing.


I deleted the OneDrive application, but the filepaths are still there. Within file explorer, every tab leads me to the OneDrive folder.


I really only want everything saved to the classic C:\Users\User\Pictures[Documents, Downloads, etc...] and to show these in the folders in the explorer window.


How can I achieve that?

you get the idea. ( too lazy to put it in a for loop and test it.

or just open regedit and remove all the fileX from that key.

 

How to remove OneDrive from file explorer path

I want to set up a folder to scan documents into and OneDrive keeps defaulting into my path. I do not want OneDrive in my path/ file destination.Please help.
