Remove/replace Defender Application Guard => wrong version folder

Remove/replace Defender Application Guard => wrong version folder [IMG]

Whilst chasing a problem I uninstalled Avast and found Defender definition updates no longer succeeded.
I then found Defender was not running.

I decided to try unticking Defender Application Guard, restart, tick the same, restart.

This did not succeed- Msmpeng.exe still not running.

    What I found:

Remove/replace Defender Application Guard => wrong version folder [IMG]

Note the bottom value points to a version-dependent folder- at that time 4.18.1809.2-0

    But the folder present was
    C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Platform\4.18.1812.3-0

I could not amend the registry, so I created a folder matching the registry entry.

Defender ran and the definition update succeeded.

Is this a bug, or something else? Opinions welcome!

    :)

  2. Application Guard Container Service High CPU

    Hi
    aka72twn,

The background process "Windows Defender Application Guard" is normal and it's very important to
    Microsoft Edge.

It's not only for Windows 10 Enterprise, but rather applies in
Windows 10 Pro build 1803. When you browse a website, this process will highly consume CPU usage to activate a fundamental security that prevents any attacks while you are up in the Internet.
