Windows 10: Removing notification icon listings from uninstalled programs

Hey guys,

Would anyone know how to remove notification icon listings from the control panel for uninstalled programs?

I uninstalled iCloud for Windows but the service is still showing up in my notification icon list

To remove the Windows 10 upgrade notification, follow the methods provided below:

Method 1: Uninstall the KB3035583 by following the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and select Control Panel.
• Click on Programs and click on Programs and Features.
• Click on View installed updates.
• Locate and select the KB3035583 update.
• Click on Uninstall and follow the prompts to uninstall the update and check for status.

Method 2: Hide the GWX notification.

• Right-click (or press and hold) the Taskbar, then select Properties.
• On the Taskbar tab, select Customise… for the Notification area.
• In the Notification Area Icons window, for the GWX (Get Windows 10) icon, select
  Hide icon and notifications.

uninstalled items are still showing in under "Start Menu -> Settings -> Notifications & actions -> Select icons which appear on the taskbar",

The best way to fix this is to open File Explorer and navigate to:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

This folder is a "hidden" folder, however, you can simply copy and paste the path name above into the Windows Search box and press enter.

Look for the program(s) icons that you uninstalled and delete the remaining icons from this folder. Do not delete icons for programs that are still valid and installed.

Once you have removed the proper icons, you can then click the start menu again (it may take a second or five to refresh) now the uninstalled app icon should no longer show in the programs list.

I had this particular issue after uninstalling Office 2016 Trial. Icons for Access, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc were all still visible in the program list even after uninstalling the software properly and rebooting the machine.

Upon removing the respective icons from the path mentioned above, the program list is correct and no longer shows erroneous icons.
