Windows 10: Repair boot error on SSD connected via USB, how do I ?

Hi All,I have a boot error 0Xc0000225 after dismantling my laptop to fix a charging issue. It has an SSD drive with dual boot Win 10 and Ubuntu 24. When I cloned my old SSD over to this one it took many attempts to get it to work and I think I had this same error at the time but once it did work it has been fine ever since 4 months.I have the old drive in the laptop which boots fine and I have the new driver in USB "caddy" and I can see all the Windows files but nothing there about Ubuntu not so important a quick disk test in the recovery area shows the disk is ok. But my question is can I

Automatic repair while booting from hdd and installing windows on ssd.

1. Migrated windows from hdd to ssd
   
2. Formatted hdd
   
3. Prioritised boot from ssd in bios
   
4. Turned on the pc
   
5. Automatic repair
   

To deal with this I select boot from a device > then EFI USB device > it says no bootable USB detected, select from these drives > there are few options including the newly installed ssd > I select ssd > then it shows disk checking, press any key to stop > I stop it > windows then boots from ssd.

It very difficult to repeat all this everytime I turn on my pc. Please suggest a fix.

Thanks for taking the time to suggest a fix, but this doesn't work for me.

If I boot with the USB attached it recognises it fine and does the first part of the repair process. It's the next step that it tells me to do that doesn't work - rebooting without the USB connected. Then it's the error screen again.

Will that USB SSD always be connected to your PC?

If not, then you can set that USB SSD as the primary Boot device in BIOS, and the internal drive as the secondary boot device, that way, when the USB SSD is connected, your PC will boot from that and when it is not connected, your PC will boot form the internal
drive

If that USB SSD is going to be always connected, you would need to install GRUB or some other bootloader, to you are given the opportunity to choose a boot drive at startup
