Windows 10: Repeated attempts to install Windows 10 Pro on new disk results in Windows Home edition.

Have several desktops and laptops - retired I.T. techie.

Have completed this task many many times - but getting a bit long in the tooth so memory is letting me down.

Windows 10 Pro laptop running Pro edition. Installing a larger SSD, so made a bootable USB from the old SSD Win10 Pro installation.

New SSD installed OK and 3 attempts to install from 3 different USBs - all generated from Media Creation Tool from licensed Pro edition, ALL result in Home edition.

Last attempt was from a USB with both 32bit and 64bit editions on board, but during install script for all installs - never do I have to confirm the edition I wish to install. Thought all editions were embedded in the generated USB.

Used my Microsoft A/C for all attempts. Made new USB from other licensed Win Pro Desktops - same result. Always automatically activates to Home edition.

What am I forgetting!

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?

 

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx
