  1. Replacing HDD that had Windows Apps on it with SSD results in those apps reporting...

I replaced the secondary HDD in my laptop with a large SSD. I copied all the HDD partitions to the SSD using a 3rd party app using an external drive enclosure before swapping the drive. Now the apps that are in the Windows Apps directory on the first SDD partiition report that they're not installed. Utility "WinDirStat" reports all apps are present in the Windows Apps folder on the SSD. Is there any way to recover this or do I need to re-download all 150GB+ of apps?

I've told WIndows that the SDD partition is where all new apps are to be installed, and it is using the Windows Apps folder on the SSD partition to install them, and these work fine, but the apps that previously said they were offline still say they're offline. The apps that aren't working have the "Move" button disabled in the Apps & Features apps list in the Control Panel.

    :)

Split Steam app folder between 2 HDD?

As the title suggests I want to find out if there's a way I can split my steam app folder on to 2 drives, specifically an SSD that I will be putting my OS and most used games and apps and a regular HDD for everything else?

  3. SSD failure and Windows 10 reinstall. How to restore apps from HDD.

My Acer desktop computer originally had a 16 GB SSD that held the Windows 10 installation (upgraded from Windows 8). It also has a 2 TB HDD that contains all other applications and files. The original SSD recently failed, preventing me from booting, so I
replaced the SSD with a SanDisk 128 GB model. I then reinstalled Windows 10 on the new SSD using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. While I was performing the installation, I disconnected the HDD to ensure I didn't accidentally overwrite anything there.

My question now is, how do I get the new installation of Windows (on the new SSD) to recognize the applications I had installed on the HDD? I can use File Explorer to browse the files and applications stored there, but Windows obviously no longer has any
of the apps registered as being installed. The SSD is now listed as the (CReplacing HDD that had Windows Apps on it with SSD results in those apps reporting... :) drive and the HDD is listed as the (DReplacing HDD that had Windows Apps on it with SSD results in those apps reporting... :) drive. Before, the HDD was (CReplacing HDD that had Windows Apps on it with SSD results in those apps reporting... :) and the SSD was the (XReplacing HDD that had Windows Apps on it with SSD results in those apps reporting... :) drive.

    Thanks,

    Tim

  4. Replacing HDD that had Windows Apps on it with SSD results in those apps reporting...

Does Windows 10 automatically recognise that a SSD has replaced a HDD?

I have recently replaced the HDD in my Windows 10 laptop with a SSD. As I understand it, Windows periodically runs a defragmentation in the background on a HDD. However, SSD drives do not require defragmenting and running such a tool can shorten the life
    of a SSD.

The SSD was a clone of the HDD and not a new installation. Will Windows 10 recognize that the laptop now has a SSD and stop its background defragmentation or do I need to take specific steps to prevent this activity occurring on the SSD? If I need to take
action please advise on the steps I should take.

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer.
