    So when I got home I noticed that my laptop is not working anymore. It seems that my HDD has failed. I owned a Lenovo Z50-70 laptop. Googling the laptop might help you to know more about it. I am typing from my phone.

    I am using the laptop a little bit for gaming, but mostly for programming on Windows or on Linux.

    Can anybody tell me what paramaters should I take into consideration for this? Should I look for the latest SATA? Or look at the cache or rpm?

    The other variant is buying a SSD now (250GB or so) for now and buy another one for installing Linux later, as I dont have that much money at the cutrent moment.

    I need straightforward and fast answers right now. Thanks a lot!

    Hard disks spin down incorrectly despite 'Turn off hard disk after' set to Never

    I'm having this issue, as well, just after installing Windows 10. The system partition runs on an SSD and I have my file archive on HDDs in RAID1 mode (Intel Rapid Storage). The HDDs are spinning up every time I access a file, which dramatically increases
    the risk of a failure.

    There needs to be an urgent fix for this issue.

    Is there any possibility to reinstall windows 10 after HD failure?

    After installing and operating windows 10 my HD suffered a total failure and was replaced by a new one. Since a installed the W 10 within the period that were offered free , am asking if there is a possibility to restore the W10 for free or I must buy them.

    Microsoft s opinion requested.

    Firstly, if you have access to another PC I would create this rescue disk from the forum Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk

    Then boot from the disk and check/ repair your hard drive if possible. Also check the SATA and power supply connections to your hard disk are secure.

    I recommend a SSD if you need to replace the drive. I put a Samsung 850 EVO 500GB in my laptop 6 months ago and would never go back back to a hard disk due to the vastly improved speed and responsiveness.

    My HDD wasn't even being detected by the laptop anymore. I got a Samsung EVO 500GB just like you did. Thank you for your reply!
