  3. How to completely reformat a disk with reserved partitions

I upgraded to win 10 on a new SSD, everything is working fine and I have copied the data I need from the old disk (its now drive EReserve System E :)

E: has a D: partition - the old system reserved, no longer needed. E: also has a recovery partition which has no label.

I want to remove the 2 reserved partitions and combine them back into E: - and then reformat E:

Is there a simple list of steps to do this please?

    Thanks

Check your Recycle Bin, your system may not boot without it!

How did you delete it in the first place?

Did you upgraded your system from earlier version of Windows, or dual booting?
Because normally you shouldn't see that partition. And it doesn't have letter associated with it.

It may be leftover from previous Windows installation.

  6. I checked the recycle bin there is no system reserved E listed. I was on a page that showed me the stuff in my system ( please know that I don't know what words to write ). The menu listed reserved system E. I right clicked on it and got another menu with several options. One of them was to "unallocate" it. Since I had previously seen a solid red line on system reserved E and kept getting pop up messages that system reserved E was full and no more space was available, I decided to "unallocate" it thinking that would free up space. Instead the action , I guess, Uninstalled it.

    Not good!
First thing you need to do, before you even think of shutting down that machine, backup all your stuff, create rescue media or clean install media, and check for a restore point or a system image!

    Reserve System E

This is a long shot, after backing up data material onto reliable external media, create a usb or dvd boot with MiniTool Power Data Recovery, which includes a partition restore function. Or, any utility with such a function. Boot and see if the System Reserved can be restored. If you're uncomfortable with a partition utility, you might want a local computer guru walk you through it, 'cause s/he can see what is going on as whatever is going on -- and guide you through the maze.

  15. I'll defer to NavyLCDR on this one ... Minitool might recover your partition, but there looks to be more work than that.

I'll be out the rest of the day.

    Go Navy!
