Windows 10: Reset Windows 10 System or Local Account Password

I just found an old PC in a closet, but it has Windows 10. I booted it up and I have to log in no surprise. The problem is, I cannot remember the password.

I held Shift when I hit the Restart button and it took me to the option menu. I tried booting from a USB Installation Media flash drive that I set up, and it just takes me back to the log in screen. I tried resetting the PC and it stops halfway through the process. Any help would be much appreciated.


Here is some information and specs keep in mind it is an older computer:
- Windows 10 previously Windows 8.1

- Intel Core i3

- The brand is Toshiba

- The account is a local account

Local Account password changed to Online Account Password

Hi,

I suggest you to follow the steps on how to switch from Microsoft account to Local account:

• Click on search in taskbar and type account.
• Click on Accounts.
• Now, under Your account, click on Sign in with Local account instead.
• Enter your Microsoft account password for confirmation and then follow the screen instruction.
• Enter User name credentials for your the Local account and click OK.
• Now, login to Local account.
