    Reset Windows 10

My laptop got stuck on that screen once for a few minutes, and it turned out it was waiting to connect to the wireless network before continuing.

If you haven't already, you might let it sit for up to 5 minutes.

If you have, then you may need to clean install. *Sad

I let it sit there for more than a hour. So does this mean I need a clean install? How will I get my files that I need

  7. this is great info but I have questions:
#1 how do you get to the "advanced start"page at reboot? I don't see any steps fpr that. #2 it talks about a windows recovery disk. Since mine was an automatic upgrade to windows 10 there is not a disk to insert and about the USB recovery how would I get that? Maybe it would just be better to delete windows to and go back to windows 8? This whole mess is just really frustrating for non- techie people. #3 my start up window icon doesn't work at all since windows 10 deleted it it so it took me 15 minutes to try and find this "recovery" step since settings isn't an available option on my default list(in case others are having same issue) is there an easier way to find it?. Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Reset Windows 10

Hello Kat, and welcome to Ten Forums. *Smile

Q1) The tutorial link in step 1 of OPTION ONE can help show you how to.

Q2) You could create a recovery drive or Windows 10 USB to use.

    (recommended) https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2...dows-10-a.html

Q3) It would be better to create a new thread in the forum for that issue instead since it's not related to this tutorial.

  9. I did the reset (Option 2), but my installation process seems to have some kind of issue. It sticks at 67% at 'configuring settings' for a while, but then it goes up to 95%. At this point it restarts and goes right back to 67%...rinse, repeat. I've left it on for a number of hours (overnight, also left it on all day while at work), yet nothing seems to change. I've tried powering the machine down and turning it back on, but it goes right to the same screen. Is there a way to fix this?

Hello BusterCannon, and welcome to Ten Forums.

I'm afraid that you may be looking at needing to do a clean install if you don't have a system image you can restore. *Sad

  11. Hello,
I became a member on this site because I had a question. I have been using Windows 10 for some time but was wondering how many times a clean reset can be performed (Reset with deletion of files) - without installation media (if allowed) before Microsoft will flag you as a problem. In other words, can I reset Windows 10 an unlimited number of times without an issue or will Microsoft flag me for OS abuse after a certain amount of resets. Thank you for your help.
    Sincerely,
    David B.

There's no limit on how many times you can do a reset of Windows 10 on a PC. The activation is registered for that PC, so it's not going to trip any red flags.
