Windows 10: Resetting a Child's Microsoft/Outlook Password

I'll be the first to admit that, as a person who continues to provide technical support daily, not having my grandson's password, since I created his account on the new computer I purchased for him for this Christmas, is on me and there were factors contributing to this misstep. I hadn't realized that Microsoft, one of the most respected companies in the world, would ever create a situation where the parent or grand-parent, of an underage child, who they created an account for, in order to use their new computer, would be ignored and that the system has never taken all the factors into account.


I have waited several days for a response, and have been ignored, prompting me to again request a password reset. Since my 7 year old grandson needs access to the account for the installation of apps and programs he needs, I find this to be a rejection and an overwhelming reason to purchase him an Apple computer since his 2 sisters have never had any problems with anything they want to do on their phones, iPads, or Macs.


I do not want to have to create a new account and I strongly suggest Microsoft review this issue to create a workable system.


I need to reset my grandson's Outlook password immediately! The delay and lack of response is unacceptable

Resetting child's Microsoft account password

When you can't sign in to your Microsoft account

Once the link is opened,

• Click on Reset your password.
• Select I forgot my password and click on Next.
• Provide the Microsoft Account of the child account and type in the characters, click Next.
• In the identity verification page, click on Email, provide the email address, click Send code.
• Check if the code has been sent to the email address and provide the code for verification.
• Follow the prompts to create a new password for the child's Microsoft account.

Resetting child's Microsoft account password

A couple of months ago I upgraded to Windows 10 and set up my child with a newly created @outlook account as her Microsoft account. Since then she's been using the PIN to access to her computer, and no longer remembers her password. The account didn't really
have any activity so there is not much to enter in the form to recover the password. To make matters worse, the phone that was set up to send some recovery code is no longer available as I moved to a different country.

Is there a way for me, with my account that list her as my child to reset the password? I really would like to avoid having to create a new account.
