  1. Resetting a Registry file to it's default

    Hello,

I'm a gamer who play Escape from Tarkov, I have a moderate laptop so my fps isn't so good...

a month ago I saw a reddit post that had a method to increase FPS, he said to disable full screen optimization of the .exe first then said to change some registry files that I've pasted below:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\GameBar] "ShowStartupPanel"=dword:00000000 "GamePanelStartupTipIndex"=dword:00000003 "AllowAutoGameMode"=dword:00000000 "AutoGameModeEnabled"=dword:00000000 "UseNexusForGameBarEnabled"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore] "GameDVR_Enabled"=dword:00000000 "GameDVR_FSEBehaviorMode"=dword:00000002 "GameDVR_FSEBehavior"=dword:00000002 "GameDVR_HonorUserFSEBehaviorMode"=dword:00000001 "GameDVR_DXGIHonorFSEWindowsCompatible"=dword:00000001 "GameDVR_EFSEFeatureFlags"=dword:00000000 "GameDVR_DSEBehavior"=dword:00000002 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\GameDVR] "AllowGameDVR"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\GameDVR] "AppCaptureEnabled"=dword:00000000

So I did that, but It actually didn't help me much... And here is the problem...I cant have any overlay on my game now... Also when I'm gonna use shadow play; if I'm in full screen there is nothing on screen as overlay and when I hit the hot key nothing happens, If I switch to borderless it says game not supported... But I was using shadow play just before that changing to registry...

Unfortunately I don't have any restore point for last month... I'm just looking forward to find their default value... Can you help me please? I don't want to reinstall or reset my windows...

    :)

Are my Registry Files all legitimate programs?

Isn't there a web tool whereby I can check if programs listed in my REGISTRY FILES are legitimate programs?

Lost default photo viewer after profile rebuild

Thanks Brink. I've tried those steps before i started searching Google. After the profile rebuild i don't have the Photo app listed to choose to make it default in either the system settings for default apps or the Open With option.

I can't even find it doing a search. Seems to have been removed somehow with the profile rebuild, which doesn't make sense.

Might be helpful to list what i've done Resetting a Registry file to it's default :) I've done the open with check, the choose default program in the system menu, tried that in device manager default programs also. I've checked the programs and features Turn windows features on/off and it's not listed there (never thought it was but that was a suggestion), searched the MS Store, it's not listed there either.

I don't like playing in the registry unless i have defined steps and haven't found anything for this yet, just the Win7 version like in my OP.

Recent (Save Files) - Change Default Settings to OneDrive

    Hello -
Thanks for the return. Before I undertake changing the Registry, I have a question.
The steps in my Registry, for my version of Windows 10, were a bit different, but I think I eventually got to the right spot.
The last step is to change the number of places you want to list in Recent Places. In my case, the default Max Display listed 50 as the number. So, if I were to change that number, how do I know the Save As page will be one of those places? Or, a similar question, will this registry change delete the tab Recent from my Save As page? This is what I would like to happen.
When I received my computer in Nov. 2016, the Recent tab was not listed in the Save As page. Something caused it to be added over time. Which brings me to this second question. Would there be any benefit in deleting the changed registry listing and reverting back to the default listing? See attachment.
