Windows 10: Resolution Changes when I get into fullscreen on games

Ok heres how this started so I got a new room built and I moved my PC there, every time I play a game in full screen it changes its resolution. Also my resolutions recommended used to be and the actual resolution is 1360 x 768 and it changed to 1024 x 768 so I think thats the problem. If this is the case please let me know about any solutions that I can try? Thanks :

Preventing resolution breaking when playing a game fullscreen

I am sorry if the title sounds misleading, I'm not entirely sure how to best word this. I have a 3840x2160p monitor. When I play demanding games I usually have to play at a lower resolution. However I also want to play fullscreen otherwise the game will be confined to a small window, but then it breaks the resolution of the desktop and of the second screen, moving all the open windows in odd places...

Is there a way to play fullscreen at lower resolution without impacting either the second monitor or other windows size and position? Failing that, maybe a way to play in borderless fullscreen at lower resolution?

 

Screen changes after fullscreening

It happens when i enter fullscreen mode on any application such as media player, it also happens when i select fullscreen mode on youtube and twitch videos, as well as with games in full screen.

The changes happen at the start of fullscreen mode and i have to tab out and reset the resolution by changing it and then changing it back for it to be reset to normal using the nvidia control panel.

 

Forced to play a game @ too high resolution (Ubuntu, fullscreen)?

I'm currently being forced to play Grim Dwan @ 1440p with low quality @ fullscreen. If i try to change to a lower resolution, such as 1080p, this happens:


Other lower resolutions also give the same problem.

Tried taking screenies of it and, to my surprise, the screenies look perfectly fine, showing the game like it was before changing the resolution. Tried recording it via SimpleScreenRecorder and same thing happens.

This doesn't happen if i play in a window: only in fullscreen.

Any ideas?
