When 4k displays on display port go standby or power down, the 1024x786 simulated displays mess up all window locations of my programs and desktop icons.

    The Problem

Hi, in short the title should be sufficient to explain what's going on. However there's more going on.

Apparently Windows 10, or the drivers, creates multiple profiles for each display scenario. This messes up the registry quite a bit and it causes a lot overhead, since I have no clue which profiles are actually being used. After some studying, I'm beginning to understand why it works this way and in a way it actually makes a lot of sense. Programs can keep running as if they still have a display and there is less traffic over the physical cables.

    However...

It's totally mismatched. my current profile should exist of two 4k displays (3840x2160) and those should be equally simulated, to prevent distortions of the windows, it keeps squashing all my windows into the top corner of the primary display. And it's a very time consuming task to put them back where I want them.

    Cry for help!

please tell me there is a fix for this or even an 3rd party app that can resolve this.

    Screenshot

Below is a screenshot of my (very messy) registry and the display configuration profiles.

    Display resolution

Hi Since a windows update my display resolution has change from 1024 x 768 to 1366 x 768, when I go into settings-display it shows resolution set at 1366 x 768 and greyed out and I am unable to change to the setting I want i.e 1024 x 768, I am using a HP 1730 monitor 4:3
Any help, suggestions would be appreciated.
    thanks

  3. Display resolution stuck at 1024 X 768

    Hello,

I've upgraded to Windows 10 about a month ago, and recently my screen resolution got stuck at 1024 x 768. I can't change it back to the usual 1360 X 768 because the screen just turns black, and I have to press enter to return to the previous setting. I can
"fool" it into setting to 1280 x 768 whenever I startup the new Catalyst installer, but it reverts to 1024 after I turn the computer on and off again.

My video card is a ATI Radeon 4800 HD.

  4. Resolution of 4K display changes to 1024 X 768 when the display port goes to stand by or...

Win10, display turned off, the resolution is only 1024*768, when turning back on, resolution is normal

is there a way to lock down the default native resolution to 1920*1080 in Windows 10?

because we have kiosk app running 24*7 on 4K displays, the screen is turned off at night to save power. And we are only allowed to schedule an app restart or PC restart to release the memory at night. then in the morning, when customer turn on the screen with
remote control, since the app was opened in 1024*768 mode while display is off, it won't know Windows 10 now changes the native resolution from 1024*768 to 3840*2160.

    that's where the problem happens.
