Windows 10: Resolved: built in camera not working

***Resolved: HP told me that this unit was not shipped with a camera.


Hi, my built in computer camera is not functional. When I open the camera app it gives an error saying it can't find my camera: 0xA00F4244<NoCamerasAreAttached>. I have gone to HPs websites to download the recommended driver HP Universal Camera Driver sp79338 however when downloaded it doesn't show up under "imaging devices". No devices show yellow or need updating; the camera device is not hidden. I have looked over HP's manuals and there is no kill switch for the camera on this machine.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro version 1909 which was installed on 8/9/19. I do have Windows Virus and Threat protections running and turning it off does not impact my ability to work the webcam. I bought this computer used and never tried to use the webcam until recently so I don't know how long this problem has been going on.


Any ideas on how to get this camera functional?
