  1. Resolving hosts on single computer on home network

    Hi there,

I hope someone can help. I have the "resolving hosts" issue on one of my computers on a home network - other devices are all fine. The problem affects more than just one browser.

In fact, I have recently replaced the computer in question but the replacement a completely new machine has inherited the issue! The issue arose on the first time this computer connected to the internet. I have not got Malwarebytes installed.

This computer is connected via a wired connection to my router. It is quite a long connection - from the router to a wall socket then a long run of cable under the house to another wall socket and then into a 5-port ethernet switch then to the PC. However the same problem occurs when I remove the ethernet switch from the setup.

I have rebooted all equipment in the chain.

Fixes such as flushing DNS etc. work momentarily but the problem returns almost immediately. It only ever affects the one PC - all other PCs, laptops and portable devices in the household connect fine, though over WiFi of course. Before I replaced the PC in question, I would have the "resolving hosts" issue over WiFi too - when connecting to a "WiFi repeater" that is wired to the main router via the long connection I described above. This repeater is in fact a spare router I have that was provided by my current ISP.

Since the PC with the problem is connecting to the internet setup in the same way as the one it replaced, my hunch is that the problem must be linked to this connection somehow, as opposed to the PC hardware or software. But I have no idea! And I suppose there might be a Windows work around which is why I'm posting here if anyone has thoughts...

I am not a techie person as you can tell. Sorry!

    :)

  3. Hosted network support not available on Surface Book2

The new wlan network cards for Windows 10 do not support the hosted network because Windows has provided the mobile hotspot feature in its place. So network adapter manufacturers no longer provide
drivers to support the hosted network.

You can still use the network hosted in Windows 10 on those old network cards where there is the appropriate driver for this feature.Read here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/u...3257/network-and-i-o/wireless-networking.html

    Try changing the driver manually:

    1) Go to Device Manager> Network Cards, select the card in use, choose "Update Driver"

    2) Select "Search for driver software on your computer"

    3) Select "Choose from a list of drivers available on your computer"

    4. Two or more drivers will be listed, select a different driver from the one currently used on your computer, then install it.

If you do not resolve, try to contact the manufacturer of your network card and ask if they can suggest an appropriate driver that supports the hosted network.

Otherwise you have to opt for the mobile hotspot.

    Hosted network virtual adapter

    Hi Pinank,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and we appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

    I will definitely assist you.

Lets’ try simple steps and check if this helps in resolving the issue.

    Step 1.

I would suggest you to restart the computer and check if it automatically installed the Hosted network virtual adapter.

If the above step did not help to fix the issue.

    Step 2.

I would recommend you to go to Device manager and click on Scan for Hardware changes.
It will automatically detect the changes and fix it. Restart the computer once scan is done.

Hope this helps. Post us with the status we will be glad to help you.
