    Restart to Repair Drive Errors

    I have a 7 year old win10 Dell 660 computer with initially a 2TB HD that was split into C and D.

When I started up the computer it has been delayed and noted errors were found on D drive and asked if I wanted to fix it.

When I say yes it would attempt to fix it and then boot. It never really fixed it since I got the error everytime I boot up.

I decided to put in a Samsung 860 EVO drive as my primary drive and leaving the old HD drive in with two different drive letters.

I cloned this SSD drive with Acronis. When I boot from windows with the SSD the error still repeats in different variations.

Note that Acronis Trueimage forced me to have a C and D on it. Althought there was nothing on D drive it still requested to fix errors.

When I made the SSD D drive unallocated space, then the drive errors went to my old hard drive that is still installed.

Also, when I tried to combine with Acronis Disk Director the C and D drive on the SSD, Acronis gave me the error:

"Corrupted file system: Please run an error checking tool to check and fix file system error"

It would therefore not then combine SSD C and D with Acronis Disk Director.

Steps taken to try to correct:

1Control Panel under Maintenance notes: "restart to repair drive errors" and restart button

I hit restart button and problem was not corrected when computer restarted

2 Devices and Drivers-Right click scan and repair and went to "error Checking"

    Did not work

    3 Chkdsk C: /F didn't find any errors

4 sfc /scannow Window resource protection did not find any integrity violations

My feeling is that there are corrupted windows files that might have be caused by not shutting down windows correctly

    in the past.

Are there any other steps that I can take?

If I need to reinstall or repair windows, how would I do it? I don' want to have to reinstall all or my apps so I prefer not a clean reinstall.

Also, how to do I do I access WIN10 files, my computer never had a Win10 disc. Actually it was previously installed with WIN7, but no disks were given for either operating system.

    :)
