Windows 10: Restoring windows 10 backup on windows 11

Recently I had to bring in my windows 10 laptop for repair. I decided to back it up on an external hard drive using the backup method in settings, in case they had to do a factory reset.When I got the laptop back I checked everything and it was all okay except for the fact that all data was gone, but I expected this and prepared just for this moment. They also upgraded my computer to windows 11 completely for free without telling me and I can't find how to restrore the files. I can still find the folders with under the configuration folder a config.xml file and a catalog.edb file and another f

I suggest creating a backup image of your os drive

 

installing windows 10 backup and restore later

1. Backup Vista
2. Upgrade Vista->Windows 7 -> Windows 10. Get activated.
3. Backup Windows 10.
4. Clean Install Windows 10. Make sure still activated
5. Backup a fresh copy of Windows 10
6. Restore

To perform step 4 i will need to have downloaded an iso and create a dvd or usb to boot from.....so will not this ISO be ok and the one you mention ?
