Windows 10: Retrieving the COM class factory for remote component with CLSID...

We have added a Windows Server 2019 to our network to host websites. We have tooling that uses Microsoft.Web.Administration to manage IIS however it cannot connect to the new server. I have searched a lot and found people with similar problems but have not yet found any solution that works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.We get the following error everytime our tools try to connect to the server:Retrieving the COM class factory for remote component with CLSID {2B72133B-3F5B-4602-8952-803546CE3344} from machine [SERVERNAME] failed due to the following error: 80070005 [SERVERNAME].at Syst

Event ID 10016, CLSID and APPID

Hey, I've been trying to resolve this same dcom issue myself, and I followed the steps you listed @FreeBooter, but when I try to do the last step, I firstly when clicking "edit" get a message saying



And then when I do enter the menu after clicking "ok" on that dialog box, the add button is greyed out.

I'm 100% certain I followed all the steps correctly. I triple-checked it. But no dice...

 

How to repair CLSID ?

OK, things are becoming a little clearer. Here is what's happening:

1. The cmd file you posted generates a VB Script (which is quite superfluous)
2. The VB Script generates a registry text file.
3. It also invokes regini.exe (which it could do more simply in the cmd file)
4. Regini creates the registry key you mentioned.

The key becomes visible in two places:

• HKCR\CLSID\{F380E974-15FF-11D0-96F1-00C0A84E43AB}
• HKLM\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{F380E974-15FF-11D0-96F1-00C0A84E43AB}

There is no binary data involved. The keys contain only text strings.

Regini requires admin privileges. This means that you should right-click the cmd file, then left-click Run as administrator.

If you still fail then we need to have a closer look at the permission settings in your registry.

 

Issue installing software due to CLSID error CLSID {4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097}

Hi. I am a flight sim enthusiast who uses Orbx Direct scenery for Prepar3D. (flight sim nerd here.)

I recently did a reinstall of windows 10 professional and am also trying to install an Orbx tool called FTX Central, which is used to remotely download and install scenery into the sim. this is payware high
end stuff and they have a proprietary tool to install the software. The FTXC tool fails on installation because of an error below:

We were unable to start the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS). This is used to download large files in FTX Central. It must be enabled for FTX Centrals download functionality to work.

When you click "OK", your web browser will open with instructions on how to re-enable BITS.

The error we received was: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with

CLSID {4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097} failed due to the following error: 80070005 Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT:0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED)).

Try as they might, the Orbx guys havent been able to help me yet. I am wondering if you can give comment in specific to the CLSID and the error message. I am thinking this is something local to my PC and
perhaps not the software per se. FYI, I have looked at services.msc and I have insured that BITS is turned on. I still get this error...
