    (a) you understand that when you plug it in, it may not work at all
    (b) you're sure you can return the SO-DIMM if you need to
    Otherwise, you risk throwing your money away.

    Possibly the manual or documentation or label on the laptop, when it arrives, might shed more light on the situation, specs do change even for the same base model number.
    May be something like a version number tagged on the end that might get you a definitive answer.

  3. I know that's the truth. We used to have a Dell desktop that ran Windows Vista that was a pile of garbage. It was slow and always messing up and you couldn't make it any faster. It was an Inspiron Desktop. But don't call me an idiot for buying another Dell just because I had one bad experience out of one of their desktops. I bought this Dell laptop because I read somewhere online that Dell's customer support has come up to the top of the list against other competitors. It was Apple, Dell, and then ASUS and so on. I didn't purchase the HP because HP's are known for battery issues.

    Dell Support Assist says that the maximum amount of memory for this computer is 8GB. Below is the screenshot from Dell Support Assist.

    Crucial says it has 1 slot and a maximum of 4GB.
    RAM & SSD Upgrades | Dell Inspiron 15 (3552) | Crucial.com

    I have not used other memory than Crucial for at least 15 years, only had 1 issue when I found that a Dell Dimension 2350 is not the same as Dell Dimension 2300 Series, cross-shipped modules worked quickly and fine.

  7. Yes I know. I just don't understand why this says it can be upgraded when everyone else including people at Dell say it can't. It makes no sense whatsoever.

  9. I might get brave and do it soon. Right now, it's giving me trouble. The keyboard and mouse do not respond to the computer at times. The keyboard has a backlit caps lock key and sometimes when the keyboard doesn't respond to the computer, the backlit key light doesn't come on and the mouse cursor freezes up. It has done this ever since I pulled it out of the box or not long after that.

    An "oddity": I recently junked a brand-name Notebook that had only one slot for a memory module accessible by the owner/user but after getting the motherboard out [mainly to get the HDD] found a memory slot that couldn't be reached except by a total tear-down. It had a module listed as the maximum for that slot [4GB] which combined with the module in the user's slot gave it 8GB.

    IMO, Dells have turned into trash and have been for awhile. Their support has never been anything to write home about.

    Had hopes that Dell would become quality once they went private, but I think they actually got worse.

    I have had good luck with Dells. Used them at home and at work. My kids have Inspiron laptop, I have a precision laptop for work. Always use Dell monitors. Support has been great for me.

  15. Well, I contacted Dell about what's been going on with mine. They did a remote session and did some updates to the touchpad as well as a BIOS update to try to correct the problem. They told me to keep and eye out on it and if it keeps doing it, then let them know in an email that they sent me. However, I am from the South. The South as in Alabama which is where I was born and raised. Most of us southerners would prefer not to talk to someone we don't understand clearly. My accent is very proper but I do have a southern accent as well and yes my vocabulary/typing/texting skills are very proper as well.
