Windows 10: Ricoh - Printer Failed Enumeration

I have a Ricoh Aficio SP 311SFNw laser printer. I've had it for a few years now and it worked great during those times. Back in 2020 it stopped being detected by Windows 10. I had it connected by USB (I also tried a different USB cable and slots). I have all of the latest drivers installed. To get around this, I connected it to my local network via ethernet cable to the router. This works great for printing stuff but the scanner option isn't there anymore. To use the scanner, I always went to Device and Printers, right-clicked on the printer, and then selected Scanner. But that option is no longer there. Probably because I have it connected via ethernet.

I've been trying to figure out a solution by myself but I think I'm at wits' end. In Device Manager it says, "unknown usb device (device failed enumeration)". I looked this up online and tried several solutions but none of them worked. I tried uninstalling the driver for that error using usbdeview and then plugging the USB cable back in. I tried installing the printer via USB in Device and Printers and using the Add a Printer option. This is futile because the USB slot for the printer won't show up.

I tried updating the drivers in Device Manager but it always say they're up-to-date. I tried various troubleshooting methods. And I tried a bunch of other things that I don't remember. The scanner itself works just fine. I can go up to the printer and physically place a worksheet onto the scanner bed and make copies. I just don't understand why I am getting this enumeration error. Oh, and I almost forgot. I connected the printer to my laptop via USB and I get the exact same enumeration error message. So, I know that it's not my desktop PC. Any ideas on what I should try to fix this thing?

It's not surprising that your printer quit working. What's surprising is that your printer continued to work for so many years after Ricoh stopped supporting it. Ricoh's last published driver was for Windows 7 yet your printer continued to work well into
Windows 10. That's quite an accomplishment. But now it's time for a new printer.

Only Ricoh can write drivers for Ricoh printers and Ricoh stopped supporting your printer years ago.

 

connecting printer Ricoh Aficio FX200 to Win10

I recently purchased a Toshiba laptop running Windows10 64 and I cannot get my old Ricoh Aficio FX200 connect and print even after downloading the presumably (PCL6 generic driver) right driver from Ricoh web site.

I only see my printer in the :unspecified" devices from the "printers and devices" page but is never detected when I try to install it by adding printer.

Unfortunately my skills are limited and I'd need a step by step type of help on how to proceed assuming there is a solution!

Can someone spend a minute to help?
