Windows 10: Right click hangs computer

Discus and support Right click hangs computer in Windows 10 Customization to solve the problem; All of a sudden, when I right click on a shortcut, the system hangs, and I have to restart the desktop.     Right click hangs computer


    All of a sudden, when I right click on a shortcut, the system hangs, and I have to restart the desktop. I have booted to safe mode and the same thing happens. I can right click in an open space and create a new folder etc. I just can not right click a shortcut.


    Windows 10 just updated a couple days ago.......I noticed the problem 11/8/19.

    Computer hangs when doing Windows 10 updates

    Hi,

    We need to clarify some information first for us to better understand your computer performance issue. Kindly answer these questions:

    • When did the performance issue start?
    • Were there any changes made on your computer before encountering the issue?
    • What is the exact model of your computer? To know the model of your computer, follow these steps:
      • Right-click the Windows logo (Start button), and then click Run.
      • In the Run textbox, type msinfo32.
      • On the right pane of the System Information window, look for System model.
    • Does the issue only occur when your computer is downloading or installing updates?

    There may be a program running in the background that is causing the performance issue. This program may be hindering the Windows Update services from running properly. This can be the reason why your computer is hanging when it downloads or installs Windows
    Updates. We recommend that you perform a clean boot to see if your computer will hang while it downloads
    or install the updates.

    Hi Joy,

    The installation of the said programs may have affected some system files. We suggest running System File Checker (SFC) tool, to resolve this issue. SFC will repair and replace any corrupted or missing system files. Follow the steps below to do so:

    • Right-click on Start menu button and select
      Command Prompt.
    • Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.
    • Wait for the scan to finish and restart your computer.
